TESTIMONIALS
"Your turkey was the best turkey I’ve ever had, No freaking joke. I’m not kidding... everyone raved about it. It was just done. I cooked it 5.5 hrs [at] 325 degrees. I put butter and oil on the outside, some onion and lemon in the inside, and added spices to the top. I’ll never get anything else. I’m a turkey 🦃 buying friend for life."
- Kris H. S., Media, PA
"Having cooked Thanksgiving Dinner for 50 years now, I am not exaggerating when I say this Broad Breasted White Turkey was the BEST bird I have ever prepared!
...I cried inside, worrying it was ruined and dry by overcooking.
We uncloaked it as we sat down, and low and behold, it was juicy, with skin crispy like we love it, just delectable and delicious. A fine dinner after all!
The Edge Farms Turkeys are what we will serve from now on, so worth it!"
- Andy S. G. F., Ardmore, PA
"Best turkey we've ever made! The skin was crispy like bacon. The breast was so moist - like pork loin. The dark meat was like eating steak. Amazing. Usually the family survives leftover turkey and avoids it... this year, they were sad there was none left the day after!"

“YOU SHOULD BE REALLY PROUD OF THIS- THE QUALITY OF THIS MEAT IS AMONG THE FINEST THAT HAS COME ACROSS MY CUTTING BOARD. YOU CAN TELL IT WAS RAISED AND TREATED WELL... THE MEAT TEXTURE IS BEAUTIFUL AND THE FAT IS SO YELLOW. JUST FROM THAT, I CAN TELL THE ANIMALS WERE GIVEN A GOOD LIFE. YOUR BIRDS ARE A PREMIUM PRODUCT!” - C. SOME THINGS WE THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT RAISING OUR TURKEYS:
Countless days have led to this moment.
We raised this turkey. We fed this turkey. We talked to this turkey. We yelled at this turkey. We laughed until our sides hurt - with this turkey. We chased this turkey. We sweated on, and froze with this turkey. We stayed up at night thinking about this turkey. We were pecked by this turkey. We confided in this turkey. In the end, we consoled this turkey all the way to the butcher.
When you get a locally farm raised turkey, no matter how big or small the farm, you're getting a hand raised bird. You're getting a bird that has been cried over. A bird that has been cheered on. A bird that has been prayed about and cared for.
We'd like to give a huge happy thanksgiving to everyone who cheered us on during our first years raising turkeys. We have such gratitude for each one of you reading this. This makes it all worth it. We raised them every step of the way. We have learned so much from them. We simply cannot put into words our love and appreciation - the English language doesn't do our emotions justice. We will just say thank you. ❤️
OUR PRACTICES FOR OUR PASTURE RAISED AND FOREST RAISED POULTRY:
Birds were born to scratch, peck, and roost freely. That's exactly what they do at The Edge Farms. Our pasture-raised and forest-raised poultry are just one step in our multi-species multi-method regenerative farming program.
In the heat of summer, it is significantly cooler in the woods, and the birds thrive happily there with the dense leaf cover and fresh air. In the spring and late fall they will be moved each day across green grass pastures. Our birds roam in the sunshine daily foraging for bugs, grubs, grains, and seeds in the soil. In addition to fresh water and eating most plants at or below eye level, they are offered a non-GMO supplement which contains grains like corn, soy, barley and wheat. (We also have some products specifically labeled soy-free.) They also have supplemental calcium and natural trace minerals with sea-kelp additives for a balanced diet, strong bones, and eggshells. Our birds forage around 30% of their diet from the grass and plants around them, providing extra vitamins and Omega-3 fatty acids, which every body needs.
We try to give them the most natural life possible. They never receive antibiotics, artificial growth hormones, or steroids. All of our poultry is hand processed by a local Amish USDA Inspected butchering facility.
WHAT DOES PROCESSED POULTRY MEAN?
The Edge Farms poultry is humanely raised and butchered. No gluten, casein, carrageenan, phosphates, MSG, artificial ingredients, nor preservatives are in the package.
The final product will be in shrink wrapped packaging, without head, feet, gizzards. It will be plucked, uncooked, ready for seasoning and the oven. Gravy or poultry broth-making pieces are available with the bird, and sometimes separately packaged upon request (liver, heart, neck, etc.)
REGARDING THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS ORDERING:
WHAT SHOULD I KNOW? WHAT IF I NEED TO CHANGE SOMETHING?
We prefer electronic payment via Venmo. Let us know if you need something else.
Holiday turkey deposits are not refundable. The balance of your order will be due upon delivery or pickup.
When your order is processed you will receive a confirmation email and order #. Please keep track of this! Let us know if you haven't gotten them within a week of your order.
You can (people do) change turkey sizes up until November 15th, as long as we have some capacity available at that size. December Holiday Bird sizes can change up until December 15th. If you need to, please do so via email so that we have a written way to track the changes: T[email protected].
REGARDING COOKING:
Please keep in mind that because of their healthy diet and exercise, our birds can be leaner than some commercial birds. Check out some unexpected tips on cooking a pasture raised turkey here, at MOTHER EARTH NEWS: "HOW TO COOK A PASTURED TURKEY."
When preparing them - indirect heat is best, like roasting. You will not need a lot of seasoning to enjoy the natural flavors. All of our birds are juicy and have wonderful texture.
HOW MUCH TURKEY WILL I NEED?
When cooking for a holiday gathering, experts recommend about one pound of turkey per person. If you want leftovers, increase this to 1 and 1/2 pounds or more. If you’re cooking for a more intimate gathering, we also sell turkey breasts, drumsticks and other cuts as well.
